A change has been made in regards to the Adult status of the Blog, due to the reviews on Alcoholic Beverages, and some for the violent games and films reviewed. Wouldn't want to set a bad example.

"Assassin's Creed: Black Flag" Review

"Assassin's Creed: Black Flag" Review

9/10

2013
Written By: Oliver Bowden
Published By: Penguin Books
Protagonist(s): Edward Kenway

When the son of a lowly sheep farmer weds and decides to become a man of Quality, his journey brings him to sea as a Privateer of the Crown. But when the laws changed, his goals changed; he would now have to become a man of Means.

As with the previous novels, the main plot follows that of the game which has the same name, with descriptive embellishments and mildly altered events to better fit with the laws of reality where the game tended to bend the rules of probability.

Unlike the novels detailing the lives of Altaïr and Ezio, this story is told as a first person narrative, making the reader become more involved in the events as Edward regales his daughter with the tales of his life as a Pirate.

As it was with the previous novels, the style of writing is very well done, and from the standpoint of someone who has not fully immersed themselves in the gritty details of daily life and obscure events several centuries ago it seems very well researched.

I would recommend this book to anyone, be they fan of the series or not. But I will recommend reading the other novels first.
