"Senseless" Review

"Senseless" Review

8/10

1998
A Penelope Spheeris
Protagonist(s): Marlon Wayans, Tamara Taylor, Matthew Lillard
Antagonist(s): David Spade
Run-time: 1 hour 33 minutes

Economics major Darryl Witherspoon (Marlon Wayans) is not well off and didn't qualify for a scholarship, so in order to pay his way and help his family get by doing what he could around campus, donating blood and semen, and doing medical trials. While under the effects of an experimental drug which enhances the human senses he seizes the opportunity to advance his chances at becoming a Junior Analyst with Smythe-Bates.

A somewhat classic late night comedy with plenty of suggestive behaviour and clothing, but very little actual shown, the closest being a scene where Mr Wayans walks blindly along the street in nothing but a garbage can lid and his socks, and attempts to purchase a suit for his hidden money.

The plot is entertaining and suggestive, the acting talent is good, the effects are limited to luminous liquids and lens distortions, the comedy is borderline crude.

I recommend this film for a late night or evening.
