"North" Review

"North" Review

9/10

1994
A Rob Reiner Film
Protagonist(s): Elijah Wood, Bruce Willis
Antagonist(s): Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Run-time: 1 hour 28 minutes

When a married couple fights and disagrees with one another all the time they get a divorce. Who is to say that a child can't divorce their parents?

This is an amusing little film based on a quite child-like logic, and follows the possible outcomes of the decision.

Mr Willis' part in this film is both as Narrator and as Mr Wood's Jimminy Cricket through the film. A somewhat unusual and benign role compared to his normal 'shoot-em up', 'yippee kayee motherf@#*£r!' style of handling situations.

The effects are few. The acting talent is good. The comedy is child friendly and amusing. The plot is twisted left, right, and center. There are several generic and possibly quite exaggerated facts presented about each geographic location and ethnic group.

I recommend this film for any family with a child who expresses a desire to run away from home due to the 'there's no place like home' moral.
