"Stargate SG-1" Review Season 03, Episode 14, Foothold

When SG-1 returns from an off world mission and finds themselves sedated, Major Carter manages to escape the mountain after ascertaining that a Foothold situation is in progress. With no one to trust in the normal chain of command, she seeks out Colonel Maybourne for assistance in repelling the invading alien force.

There are a few introductions in this episode.

The first being that not all missions are interesting enough to mention, as evident by their arrival in the opening minutes.

The second introduction is the alien species which invaded the SGC. The species has not been named outside the Stargate SG-1 Roleplaying Game, but in it are called the Stragoth. The alien has technology which allows it to mimic a 'scanned' person's appearance for as long as it is alive and the mimic device is active. The aliens will not appear again outside clip shows, but the mimic device will. The memory retrieval device attached to the unconscious copied person allows the mimic to also mimic behaviour and memory.

The plot is good, the acting talent is good, the effects are excellent.
