"Stargate SG-1" Review Season 02, Episode 18, Serpent's Song

8/10

When SG-1 arrives on a planet sent to them on their radio frequencies, they expect to find Tok'ra but instead witness a glider crash and find Apophis amidst the wreckage. As they hurry the evacuation, more gliders arrive and begin their attack.

This episode introduces a new Goa'uld; Sokar, the original Satan. He will make other appearances later in the series. He also has the ability to project an image through the Stargate even with an iris in place, it also generates immense heat which threatens to destroy the iris with repeated exposures. The SGC learns from this weapon and will build one for a similar purpose later in the series.

The episode also shows the ruthless cunning of Apophis. He faced death, and decided to ensure the destruction of Earth by having the SGC give him sanctuary and turning the wrath of his enemies against Earth.

The plot is good, the acting talent is good, the effects are good and well integrated.
