"Stargate SG-1" Review Season 02, Episode 07, Message in a Bottle
9/10

Written By: Michael Greenburg, Jarrad Paul, Brad Wright
Directed By: David Warry-Smith
While investigating a moon-like world SG-1 finds a device which generates power and maintains a constant temperature, something which Doctor Jackson estimates it has been doing for close to a hundred thousand years based on the surface of the world. Eager to bring home what could be a new power source or alien time capsule, SG-1 decides that the benefits may outweigh the risks.
Captain Carter indicates that merely studying the thing has added two new elements to the periodic table, yet we will not hear about it later.
The species of microscopic aliens introduced in this episode will not be heard from again even though they parted on good terms.
The only time we will hear about this incident later is through clip shows and a summary of Colonel O'Neill's injuries.
The plot is good, the acting talent is good, the special effects are used sparingly and integrated well even if in some cases the path of the luminous organisms are seen as paint strokes on walls, revealing their position before the UV lights are turned on. Another flaw is that upon entering the elevator, Captain Carter reveals that the elevator is a fake as the floor tracks seamlessly into it.

A change has been made in regards to the Adult status of the Blog, due to the reviews on Alcoholic Beverages, and some for the violent games and films reviewed. Wouldn't want to set a bad example.
