Upon getting an unidentified incoming wormhole yet no traveller, SGC manages to identify the radioactive signal from the Sagan Box they had given to the people of Cimmeria as a present for Thor. The M.A.L.P. they send through discovers carnage and destruction near the gate, as well as dead Jaffa and Gairwyn who is pleading for their help. Feeling responsible for the Goa'uld invasion of a formerly protected world, SG-1 offers to go through and do what they can.

This episode shows us for the first time what the Asgard look like, and the power their ships hold. It also tells that the Asgard have left behind means of contacting them on the worlds they protect, so that the people might be judged to be ready to see them as they are. They will make semi-frequent appearances throughout the series.

Also introduced in this episode is the son of Ra and Hathor; Heru'ur. He will make other appearances.

Also included is a scene which seems to have been borrowed from "Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade", where the protagonists go through a series of tests and a leap of faith in order to reach their goal.

The plot is good, the acting talent is good, the effects are well integrated and a little more flashy than normal.
