"Stargate SG-1" Review Season 02, Episode 04, The Gamekeeper
8/10
17th July 1998
Written By: Jonathan Glassner, Brad Wright
Directed By: Martin Wood
While exploring a domed garden on a very hospitable planet, SG-1 are pulled into some form of machine, and in groups of two suddenly find themselves in past events from their history. The theory of the machine being a time machine flies out the window quickly as the events stay the same even if they behave differently. It would seem they are trapped in a very real simulation which draws information from their minds; a game.
This starts out being very much like 'Groundhog Day' in that they have no idea what is going on, but when they do they do not want to cooperate with the Gamekeeper who is keeping them there.
The technology is not seen for many years after appearing here, but it will be shown again in a slightly diminished capacity as it interfaces with human technology.
The plot is good, the acting talent is good even if the English dialect of the Gamekeeper seems forced, the effects are well integrated and simple as usual.

A change has been made in regards to the Adult status of the Blog, due to the reviews on Alcoholic Beverages, and some for the violent games and films reviewed. Wouldn't want to set a bad example.
