"Stargate SG-1" Review Season 02, Episode 03, Prisoners
8/10

While exploring a seemingly uninhabited planet, SG-1 run into a man who is fleeing from something in desperation, begging for help. Helping seems to have been the wrong choice as the man was a murderer fleeing from justice. A noise and a beam of light transports them all to be judged, and they are found guilty of sharing in the fugitive's crimes and for various other crimes, sentenced to life imprisonment on a prison planet. Now SG-1 is without weapons or gadgets, and on a planet without a Dialling device, filled with criminals, and must find a way home.
The prison planet is much like the Australian prison colonies, and it is pointed out by Doctor Jackson not long after they arrive. It is a simple and elegant solution, and makes it unlikely for anyone to break out and terrorise the law abiding citizens. Yet it also makes it impossible to retrieve the wrongfully imprisoned, should evidence be found that such is the case.
The episode also introduces an organic means of cold fusion, some specific roots combined with activating liquid. However even if this is knowledge given to the SGC, we will hear no more of it.
However, the woman who introduced the power source will make another appearance, portrayed by another actress.
The acting talent is good, the plot is good, the effects are understated as usual.

A change has been made in regards to the Adult status of the Blog, due to the reviews on Alcoholic Beverages, and some for the violent games and films reviewed. Wouldn't want to set a bad example.
