A change has been made in regards to the Adult status of the Blog, due to the reviews on Alcoholic Beverages, and some for the violent games and films reviewed. Wouldn't want to set a bad example.

"Stargate SG-1" Review Season 02, Episode 02, In the Line of Duty

"Stargate SG-1" Review Season 02, Episode 02, In the Line of Duty

9/10

Whilst visiting a peaceful people off world, SG-1 is suddenly under attack by Death Gliders and are forced to evacuate not only themselves but the locals as well. During these strafing runs many were injured or killed, and while Captain Carter was administering CPR to one such man something passed into her which made her eyes glow.

This episode introduces four relevant devices or notions.

The first thing introduced is that the Goa'uld are capable of entering a new host through the mouth and not just the back of the neck. This is explained in later episodes.

The second notion introduced is that with many peoples and groups there arises different viewpoints and philosophies even within the Goa'uld. The new introduction is the Tok'Ra; a Goa'uld resistance who do not take unwilling hosts outside the most dire of circumstances, and who live in symbiosis with their hosts.

The third concept is that there are Goa'uld who are trained assassins; Ashrak. And they seek out those whom the System Lords wish dead.

The fourth is a device or assassination tool which can be swallowed and regurgitated, capable of very precise close range energy damage, and visible superman-esque x-ray scanning. It is exclusively used by these assassins.

The plot is good, the acting talent is good, and the special effects are understated as usual.
