"Stargate SG-1" Review Season 01, Episode 12, Fire and Water
8/10

Directed By: Allan Eastman
When SG-1 returns off schedule from a visit to another world, sans Doctor Jackson and suffering from shock and photo sensitivity, they report that the Archaeologist is dead. When it is suggested someone return to search for the body, all three remaining members of SG-1 are very insistent that this not be done even if they can't explain why. They also seem to suffer flashbacks when confronted with rising bubbles in sufficient quantities.
This episode introduces the alien species of the Ohnes, an advanced semi-aquatic race which looks somewhat like the Creature from the Black Lagoon. It is explained that they resisted the Goa'uld and planted the seed of rebellion on Earth. But following this episode we do not hear more about them.
This is also one of the few instances of alien encounters where the aliens do not already speak and understand English, so minutes of the episode is spent for the alien to absorb it by listening to speech as Doctor Jackson translates sentences from Sanskrit.
The plot is intriguing, the acting talent is good, the effects are simple and good.

A change has been made in regards to the Adult status of the Blog, due to the reviews on Alcoholic Beverages, and some for the violent games and films reviewed. Wouldn't want to set a bad example.
