When a former Companion gets trouble with a local rich man with influence she pleads Inara for help. Captain Reynolds knows a noble cause when he sees one and offers his assistance.

Power corrupts, and a corrupted mind sees only noble and just intentions in their own actions. When a corrupted man's wife proves barren, he sees nothing wrong with impregnating a whore and force the woman to give up the unborn baby to his control. He cannot be reasoned with.

What is worse is a corrupted man with the power of speech, as there will always be someone weak willed enough to be swayed to his views.
