While on a stop-over to pick up supply and try to unload the priceless gun they stole, a coffin is picked up in the post, addressed to Captain Reynolds and Zoe. Inside the coffin is an old war buddy who just wants to be sent home after a rough time as a civilian.

While the series isn't openly political, this episode does show a situation in which some soldiers find themselves once the fight is over; trained killers unable to cope with a lawful society. Paranoia and a twisted sense of morality can get them into trouble. It also points out what even though a man carries a badge, that doesn't mean he's honourable.

This episode has a very interesting bit of history for the senior crew of Serenity.

It is also the introduction to the infamous hat of Jayne. "Man walks down the street in that hat, people know he's not afraid of anything."
