"X-Men: The Last Stand" Review
7/10
2006
A Brett Ratner Film
Protagonist(s): Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, Anna Paquin, Kelsey Grammer, James Marsden
Antagonist(s): Ian McKellen, Rebecca Romjin, Vinnie Jones
Run-time: 1 hour 44 minutes
When a supposed cure for mutants is introduced it creates a third faction in the mutant community who seek only to rebel against the cure and those who seek to force it on them. Magneto (Ian McKellen) unites them with the Brotherhood and leads them against the manufacturer of the cure.
The effects are okay, the plot is iffy, and the continuity from the previous films to this one is less than stellar. Most notable is that in the start of X-2, Henry McCoy in human form was shown on the television in the background, but they were not consistent in assigning the same actor for this film. Though I cannot disagree with the talented Kelsey Grammer as the sophisticated and intelligent 'Beast', I wish they had convinced him to pose for the few seconds of exposure in the previous film.
The cameo of the Sentinels is amusing, and it's fun to see more and more known mutants show up.
What annoys me about the security forces and military in this film is that they managed to foresee trouble with Magneto yet had not developed more effective and intelligent strategies, relying only on changed weapons.
If you enjoy the Marvel universes then this is a film for you.

A change has been made in regards to the Adult status of the Blog, due to the reviews on Alcoholic Beverages, and some for the violent games and films reviewed. Wouldn't want to set a bad example.
