"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" Review

"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" Review

8/10

2009
A Michael Bay Film
Protagonist(s): Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, Tyrese Gibson, Peter Cullen
Antagonist(s): Hugo Weaving, Tony Todd
Run-time: 2 hours 30 minutes

After the incident with the Decepticons, Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) starts his higher education but is drawn back into the interstellar mess of living robots when he starts seeing symbols everywhere and can't help himself from writing them down even in class.

The sequel to the 2007 film, this film has done what many high budget film sequels do to save money, more often focusing the image close on specific sequences of the animation to save on the amount of work the computers need to do to render images and reducing the amount of work needed to be done on the animation. It's not cool, but understandable considering that there is more of the animation in this film than the previous one.

What is cool is the amounts of special effects used. More scenes made entirely up of animation. More explosions. More guns.

The acting talent is balanced, the plot is weak but evened out by the effects and action.

I recommend this film for any science fiction enthusiast.
