"Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior" Review

"Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior" Review

7/10

2003
A Prachya Pinkaew Film
Protagonist(s): Tony Jaa, Petchtai Wongkamlao
Run-time: 1 hour 48 minutes

When someone steals the head of his village's Buddha, a young warrior monk in training is set to the quest of finding and returning it.

This is a fairly simple plot supported by plenty of martial arts, comedy, and chase scenes.

Tony Jaa apparently does his own stunts, much like Jackie Chan, but unlike Mr Chan also does the occasional live stunt show to display his prowess and prove that several stunts aren't tricks of photography despite how impossible they might seem.

I recommend this film for those who enjoy watching martial arts subtitles or understand Thai and want to watch a bunch of men beat the living daylight out of one another.
