"Music of the Heart" Review
7/10
1999
A Wes Craven Film
Protagonist(s): Meryl Streep, Aidan Quinn, Gloria Estefan, Angela Bassett
Run-time: 2 hours 4 minutes
A music teacher takes on the daunting task of teaching the violin at an inner-city school.
I would open by pointing out that the story is very similar to both "Lean on Me" and "Stand and Deliver"; One individual with a passion for educating braves the rough neighbourhood and bureaucratic pitfalls to try and instill values in the students who grow up better adjusted and grateful.
However, I will agree with the woman's statement of playing the Violin promotes discipline. As has likely been proven in many aspects of my life, I do not play the violin no matter how much I would have liked.
The acting talent is excellent, the plot is fairly straight forwards.
I recommend this film for inspiration to change or self improvement.
Reviewing different things; food, films, music, books, games etc. It is said that those who can't do; teach. Those who can't teach; critique.
