"The Terminator" Review

"The Terminator" Review

8/10

1984
A James Cameron Film
Protagonist(s): Michael Biehn, Linda Hamilton
Antagonist(s): Arnold Schwarzenegger
Run-time: 1 hour 47 minutes

When a robot in human guise is sent back through time to kill the future mother of the human resistance's strongest leader, the human resistance responds in kind with sending a soldier to protect the woman.

I remember that this was one of the first graphic violence films I managed to sneak away from my brother's collection and watch in secret. I was nine, and the sequel had come out. While some may claim it warped my preferences in action films, I prefer to see it as acquiring a taste for shoot 'em up, and high tech visual films.

The make up and puppet might look a bit unreal by today's standards it was very scary and believable back then. The animated Terminator robot looks a little more like the 1920s stop motion King Kong than Cameron's latest films, but works for its purpose.

I recommend this film for science fiction enthusiasts.
