"Stargate Universe" Review

"Stargate Universe" Review

9/10

2009
Created By: Brad Wright and Robert C Cooper
Protagonist(s): Robert Carlyle, Louis Ferreira, Brian Jacob Smith, Elyse Levesque, David Blue, Jamil Walker Smith, Lou Diamond Phillips
Seasons on Air: 2
Episode Run-time: 45 minutes

When a research base on a distant planet is attacked by the Lucien Alliance the majority of the base is evacuated through the stargate to an address with a nine chevron combination, the only one known, and are ejected onto a star ship on auto pilot billions of light years away with no means of returning to Earth.

It is not entirely necessary to have seen the previous two series in order to follow the plot of this series, but it helps. There is on occasion a slight summary for the newly initiated.

I enjoyed the gritty nature of refugees needing to forage and scavenge anywhere they can in order to survive, while travelling towards an ultimate goal further and further from home, unable to stop or return. It had great potential for adventure in new and distant galaxies. It is therefore sad that the series was cancelled, and the planned epilogue film cancelled.

I recommend this series or anyone who enjoys the Stargate series.
