"The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" Review
8/10
2001
A Peter Jackson Film
Protagonist(s): Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Sean Bean, Orlando Bloom, Billy Boyd, Ian Holm, Ian McKellen, Dominic Monaghan, John Rhys-Davies, Viggo Mortensen, Hugo Weaving
Run-time: 2 hour 58 minutes - 3 hours 48 minutes
When news of the One Ring's location reaches Mordor, it is up to Frodo (Elijah Wood) to get it to Mordor where he is to destroy it.
While the general plot of the film follows the book there are a few glaring omissions, the Barrow-downs for one. The Barrow-wrights were important, yet omitted. Tom Bombadil may not have been important but still played a part in the safe passage of the hobbits.
Still, had these elements among others been included then I suppose the run-time would nearly double and few other than the hardcore Fantasy enthusiasts would sit through nearly six to eight hours of film (I apparently belong in that group as I sat through a marathon of the trilogy of extended versions).
The effects are excellent. The landscape is spellbinding. The acting talent is good.
I recommend this film for any Fantasy enthusiast, but Tolkien enthusiasts might be bothered by errors, omissions or liberties taken.
Reviewing different things; food, films, music, books, games etc. It is said that those who can't do; teach. Those who can't teach; critique.

A change has been made in regards to the Adult status of the Blog, due to the reviews on Alcoholic Beverages, and some for the violent games and films reviewed. Wouldn't want to set a bad example.
