"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" Review

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" Review

10/10

2006
A Gore Verbinski Film
Protagonist(s): Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Kiera Knightly
Antagonist(s): Tom Hollander, Bill Nighy
Run-time: 2 hours 31 minutes

With a grievous debt hanging over his head like the sword of Damocles, Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) seeks the one thing which can stay his comeuppance; the Heart of Davy Jones (Bill Nighy).

The amusing antics of Johnny Depp and the responses to them keep this film from becoming too serious despite the rather gloomy prospect of being eternally damned to serve under the mast, and a massive octopus-like monster shredding ships and devouring sailors.

Unlike its predecessor, this film clearly indicates a sequel with the surprise return of a dead character and the start of a quest.

If you enjoy pirate films, this is definitely one for you.
