The music is very dark, and had it been vocalized by a man would likely have been unintelligeble in the roaring tone which is common for most male vocalists of the Heavy Metal Genre. The somewhat calmer pace and female vocals shift the genre into Alternative Rock, yet the themes are fairly dark and the titles make it seem like there is a depression issue with the writers.
However, ever since I first hear track number two (Bring Me to Life) I have felt somewhat drawn to this group. It might be a bit over the top but I have literally heard that song thousands of times since I first saw the music video. It is still on the top five of my favourite songs of which I never grow tired.
Several songs seem to glide into one another, making it seem like there's a brief lull in a single long song rather than two songs. It's fine once or twice, but should not be the theme of the album as it would grow old quickly.
