"Die Hard With a Vengance" Review

"Die Hard With a Vengance" Review

9/10

1995
A John McTiernan Film
Protagonist(s): Bruce Willis, Samuel Leroy Jackson
Antagonist(s): Jeremy Irons
Run-time: 2 hours 11 minutes

When New York is being held hostage by a terrorist he demands that John McClane (Bruce Willis) race across town to solve riddles to prevent more bombs from exploding. He also solves the riddle of the identity of the bomber.

Yet again Bruce Willis has to take on terrorists, and yet again the scale of the playing field has grown. In the first film it was a tower office complex. In the second it was an entire airport. And in this film it is Manhattan and a few surrounding areas.

These terrorists are well trained, yet deviate from the previous norm set by the previous films by not actively seeking to engage the main character.

The visible plot is a bit weak, but is supported by the witty banter between the two protagonists and the hidden sub plot.

Plenty of explosions, shooting and special effects which end up further harming Bruce Willis who normally by the end of these films is barely able to stand yet still pushes through.

Recommended for a guys' film night.
