"Mrs Doubtfire" Review

"Mrs Doubtfire" Review

7/10

1993
A Chris Columbus Film
Protagonist(s): Robin Williams
Antagonist(s): Pierce Brosnan
Run-time: 2 hours 5 minutes

When actor Daniel Hillard (Robin Williams) is divorced and separated from his children, he leaps into the role of a lifetime as the elderly nanny Mrs Euphegenia Doubtfire so he can secretly spend time with his children.

This film was nominated and winner of a slew of awards, including an Oscar. One can see why, as the plot and whimsical jokes of Mr Williams help the audience swallow the bitter pill of a divorce film.

The only thing which ruins it for me is that the antagonist (Pierce Brosnan) isn't as credible as the bad man the protagonist (Robin Williams) perceives him. In contrast, the protagonist acts like a spoiled child and plays pranks on the antagonist without much thought for consequences.

It is still an amusing film, and recommended.
