"Funny Farm" Review

"Funny Farm" Review

9/10

1988
A George Roy Hill Film
Protagonist(s): Chevy Chase, Madolyn Smith Osborne
Run-time: 1 hour 41 minutes

When Sports Writer Andy Farmer (Chevy Chase) retires to the countryside to write the great American novel he expects a paradise of idyllic landscape and kind villagers. Reality is cruel.

This is undoubtedly one of Mr Chase's better films as far as performance is concerned. Plenty of physical comedy and awkward situations which he walks away from as though they hadn't happened.

The comedy is timeless, and I have no doubt it will survive for quite a while.

Speaking for myself, I take this film out whenever I feel like a laugh.
