"The Stupids" Review

"The Stupids" Review

5/10

1996
A John Landis Film
Protagonist(s): Tom Arnold, Jessica Lundy, Bug Hall, Alex McKenna
Antagonist(s): Mark Metcalf, Matt Keeslar
Run-time: 1 hour 34 minutes

When postal worker Stanley Stupid (Tom Arnold) discovers that a large number of letters are returned to a mysterious Sender, he and his family plunges deeply into a complicated conspiracy.

While considered a flop, I find this film quite entertaining for its Naked Gun/ Police Squad type humour mixed in with a normal world.

The pets and miscellaneous beings are clearly artificial, but as I gather it was not meant to be a serious film then such niggling details are irrelevant.

The dialogue and random conclusions drawn by the Stupid family can be somewhat annoying, but again it seems to be deliberate.

If you feel like an evening entertainment where you don't need to think, I recommend this film.
