A Jon Favreau Film
Protagonist(s): Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle
Antagonist(s): Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke
Run-time: 2 hours 4 minutes
With Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) as Iron Man, the world has enjoyed or been forced to endure the longest period of peace in decades. However, overconfidence is one of his flaws and hostile forces crawl out of the woodwork.
It should not come as a surprise that in order to match a superior power other factions will resort to threats, espionage, or attempt to replicate the superior power with varying degrees of success. Yet despite his confidence, Stark is taken by surprise when someone managed to duplicate his power source.
The quality of this film is slightly lower than the previous film, but the redeeming features are the robots and robot-like animations duking it out with massive collateral damage. It also helps that there are several attractive women in various states of dress.
This film takes place in the Avengers film universe, and builds up to the "Avengers" film. The tail end of the film overlaps with the start of "Thor".
I recommend this film, though it isn't strictly necessary to follow the plot of the "Avengers" film.
