"Captain America: The Winter Soldier"
2014
8/10
An Anthony Russo and Joe Russo Film
Protagonist(s): Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Anthony Mackie
Antaognist(s): Sebastian Stan, Frank Grillo, Robert Redford
Run-time: 2 hours 16 minutes
After a covert rescue mission for S.H.I.E.L.D. Captain America starts to unravel a web of cover ups and conspiracies, leading to him and Black Widow becoming the target of a military manhunt. Whilst clearing his name through the only method he has at his disposal with S.H.I.E.L.D. now hunting him, Captain America uncovers buried secrets and old acquaintances.
The plot is very intriguing and near constantly keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat. Though the 'Big Brother is watching you' theme is strongly reminiscent of such films as "Enemy of the State" and "The Fugitive".
The effects are good, and the acting talent is excellent.
Introduced in this film are several characters from the Marvel universe, some even belonging to the X-Men rather than the Avengers.
I also recommend that you see this film before watching the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series, as the series has spoilers for this film and the "Thor" film released last year.
