A change has been made in regards to the Adult status of the Blog, due to the reviews on Alcoholic Beverages, and some for the violent games and films reviewed. Wouldn't want to set a bad example.

"Darkly Dreaming Dexter" Review

"Darkly Dreaming Dexter" Review

9/10

2004
Written By: Jeff Lindsay
Protagonist(s): Dexter Morgan

The world of human emotion is difficult to navigate with a functioning set of emotions. Easy enough to fake, especially for a stalking predator of the Dark Defender type; taking justice in his own hands, working as a mild mannered Lab Technician during the day. When a series of prostitute body parts start piling up here and there, the secret serial killer Dexter Morgan draws unwanted attention with his uncanny instinct for the Tamiami Slasher's next moves.

This novel was the inspiration for the Television series named for its main character, as stated quite clearly in the opening titles of each episode. Though I should point out that the key words would be inspired by.

The first person narrative is something of an adjustment, though it allows for quite a few humorous opinions voiced in a dark and quirky way. Another adjustment is finding yourself rooting for someone who under normal circumstances would be the villain.

For some reason, alliteration seems to be used frequently. It is not a complaint, merely an observation.

I, for one, prefer the book to the series, and recommend it to anyone who does not feel queasy at the notion of murder or mayhem.
