"The Town" Review

"The Town" Review

08/10

2010
A Ben Affleck Film
Protagonist(s): Ben Affleck, Rebecca Hall, Jeremy Renner
Antagonist(s): John Hamm, Pete Postlethwaite
Run-time: 2 hours 4 minutes / 2 hours 33 minutes (extended)

In a city district renown for its bank robbers, it is difficult to avoid the pitfalls of parents. But one bank robber has had enough and aims to retire after facing one of his victims.

While not very preachy about it, this film brings up the age old question of nature versus nurture: Is is possible to escape the destiny of the felonious ancestors; break the bonds which bind them to that place and lot and start anew?

This film is by no means a masterpiece, but it has a decent plot, excellent effects, good acting talent and even some drama and romance mixed in for those who are thus inclined.

If you enjoy crime films with violence and crude language, then this is the film for you.
