A Joe Carnaham Film
Protagonist(s): Liam Neeson, Dermot Mulroney, Frank Grillo, Dallas Roberts, Joe Anderson, Nonso Anozie, James Badge Dale
Run-time: 1 hour 57 minutes
When an airplane filled with Alaskan oil-men goes down in the middle of nowhere, the handful of survivors must battle for survival against the rough elements and the aggressive wolf pack of the area.
I will open by saying that this is not normally my type of film, as I am not one who enjoys the surprise of something jumping out of the dark to maul or kill. However, for its kind of film it is a good one.
This film does bring up a lot of interesting points in concern with animal or pack behaviour, be it wolves or humans. In the situation portrayed in this film one cannot simply be concerned with the ego, but cooperation for survival even if it means listening to someone else rather than making all the decisions. Another point would likely be the following; if wolves or any other animal becomes increasingly aggressive the longer you go, turn around and go the other way.
The film ends with what can be considered a cliffhanger, though I doubt there will be a sequel. At the very end, after the credits, there are a few seconds of film remaining as seems to be the trend these days. It is likely a means of ensuring that the audience sits through the credits to see the last bit.
I recommend this film if you like the dark and gloomy and hopeless situations of surviving in the frozen wilderness. If you do not enjoy things jumping out of the dark to maim maul or kill this is not the film for you.
