"Stargate SG-1" Review Season 02, Episode 22, Out of Mind

When Colonel O'Neill awakes from cryogenic sleep after what he is told is around seventy-eight years, and that everyone he knows are likely dead. The SGC of the day are very interested in knowing who might have sent him back frozen and the other members of SG-1 dead, as they are losing the war against the Goa'uld despite their technological advances and occupied colonies. They need all the help they can get.

Despite the imaginative story in-between, this is a clip show.

The first thing which struck me as odd about the SGC of the future was that they did not seem to have a record of the alien encounters made by the SGC of the 'present' or their mission files and would require the outdated information of a man who has been frozen for decades. And though he goes along with it, it seems that O'Neill is a little suspicious of this as well.

New technology is introduced, most notably the memory recall device which is attached to the side of the head and connects with the memory centres of the brain to display it on a monitor as he thinks of the memory.

Though the episode isn't very specific as to the means, there seems to be cryogenics involved, both freezing and defrosting without discernible damage.

The plot is good, the acting talent is good, the effects are more plentiful but only because of the numerous clips which contain effects.
