"Stargate SG-1" Review Season 01, Episode 20, Politics

8/10

Upon returning from the jaunt into an alternate reality, Doctor Jackson is brought home for treatment and SG-1 is brought before Senator Kinsey to defend the continuation of the Stargate Program.

This episode is a classic example of politicians trying to close the barn door after the horses have fled. In this case the Stargate Command has engaged in war with interstellar aliens, and ceasing to use the Stargate would not end the war.

Kinsey will be a recurring obstacle throughout the series.

In short, this episode is a well executed clip show.

The plot is good, the acting talent is excellent, the effects are modest.
