Some friends and I had a night out now that summer is here and everyone had the time to gather, so we decided collectively to have supper at this quaint place.
In the warm evening sun, most of the patrons chose to sit outside at the tables placed just against the wall, with a great view of the surrounding area without leaving ground level. For those who prefer the indoors or for colder times of year there are plenty of seats inside.
I had the Chicken Vesuvius. The precise reasons for its naming is unclear, but it could be because the pasta dish is served with plenty of tomato sauce and the slices of chicken breast on top, making it look somewhat like a volcano.
The chicken was juicy and well prepared, with skin still attached. The pasta was well cooked. The sauce had bits of mushroom and green herbs, but was dominated by the tomato. Otherwise the dish was somewhat bland. Though I could have improved it myself by adding more salt and pepper.
The portions are satisfactory, but don't fill up on the complimentary bread and butter served immediately after drinks have been served, or you might not be able to finish the plate.
Hygiene appeared satisfactory.
Service was excellent.
Prices were acceptable.
