"Bewitched" Review
9/10
2005
A Nora Ephron Film
Protagonist(s): Nicole Kidman, Will Ferrell, Shirley MacLaine, Michael Caine
Run-time: 1 hour 41 minutes
When Isabel Bigalow (Nicole Kidman) decides to quit the easy life of being a witch to live as a mortal, she unwittingly stumbles into acting the part of a remake of an old television witch with the same ambitions.
What i really like about this film is that for much of the film the main protagonists are more or less reliving the television series off set.I must admit that I have not seen the 'Bewitched' series, but it is on my list right next to 'I Dream of Jeanie' and rewatching 'The Addams Family'.
Normally I do not enjoy the over the top acting of Mr Ferrell, but in this instance he fit in well even though I maintain that there could have been better choices.
The sets should have been relatively simple to arrange, as much of the film takes place in one of two locations; the house, and the studio. A few other easily arranged sets have been thrown in and some of them are in poor lighting which eases the budget on details.
The plot is good enough. The effects are excellent. The acting talent is good enough. The comedy is good, but relies mostly on the confusion of a witch casting spells left and right without the mortals' knowledge.
I recommend this film to people who enjoyed such television series as 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch' or 'The Fairly Odd Parents'.
Reviewing different things; food, films, music, books, games etc. It is said that those who can't do; teach. Those who can't teach; critique.
