"Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace" Review
8/10
1999
A George Lucas Film
Protagonist(s): Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Anthony Daniels, Jake Lloyd, Frank Oz
Antagonist(s): Ian McDiarmid, Ray Park
Run-time: 2 hours 16 minutes
On a diplomatic mission to break up a blockade, two Jedi fall into more pressing concerns as the blockade becomes a full-blown invasion. As they escort the Queen they stumble across the focus of an ancient prophecy.
My biggest issue with the film is the whole concept of making a prequel. As with any story one should always start from the beginning rather than skip backwards.
Another issue is that sound does not travel through the vacuum of space, yet we can hear engine sounds, explosions and plasma bolts whizzing past. An explanation could be that the emptiness of space isn't empty but filled with some sort of non-flammable gas, but this is not something which is explained.
The race scene is an almost exact replication of the events from Ivo Caprino's Flåklypa Grand Prix from 1975.
Those things aside, the fight scenes are entertaining, the plot might be a bit heavy and boring in parts, and there are a few unnecessary characters.
All Star Wars Fans must see it. The rest may find it entertaining.
Reviewing different things; food, films, music, books, games etc. It is said that those who can't do; teach. Those who can't teach; critique.

A change has been made in regards to the Adult status of the Blog, due to the reviews on Alcoholic Beverages, and some for the violent games and films reviewed. Wouldn't want to set a bad example.
