"Ratatouille" Review

"Ratatouille" Review

10/10

2007
A Brad Bird Film
Protagonist(s): Patton Oswalt, Lou Romano, Brad Garrett, Janeane Garofalo
Antagonist(s): Ian Holm, Peter O'Toole
Run-time: 1 hour 51 minutes

When a passion for something is strong enough, the source should not matter. But as is often the case; one judges the book based on its cover.

The struggle against expectations and adversity is a well known theme in films and books, and there have been many twists and changes to the idea but not in this direction.

The very idea that a rat would prepare food is one which will and has had people gagging due to the very unhygienic nature and perceived impression of that creature. But for the purpose of relaying the moral of "Judge not lest ye be judged" the child friendly story does a good job.

The acting talent is excellent. The animation, lighting and effects are incredible despite the cartoonish exaggerations.

I recommend this film for any family who wishes to get their children more interested in helping in the kitchen. Just make sure to tell them that they shouldn't chase down rats to do their work for them.
