"City Slickers" Review

"City Slickers" Review

9/10

1991
A Ron Underwood Film
Protagonist(s): Billy Crystal, Daniel Stern, Bruno Kirby, Jack Palance
Run-time: 1 hour 53 minutes

When Mitch Robbins (Billy Crystal) hits his mid-life crisis his wife and friends decides that instead of dealing with a red sports car and a mistress she sends him on a cattle drive to fulfill his childhood dreams of being a cowboy.

Who hasn't dreamed of herding cattle across desert landscape? Everyone I know admitted so at some point or another. And in several films and series where children congregate in play they play a game of "Cowboys and Indians" or some such.

In my opinion as a man and a former boy scout the proposed solution for the mid-life crisis is a fairly good one and could be made even cheaper by going hiking and camping.

The comedy is excellent. The plot is simple with complex twists of comedy. The acting talent is excellent. The effects are good.

I recommend this film for anyone, but especially those approaching the appointed mid-life and are looking for Corvettes.
