"Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" Review
7/10
2011
A Rob Marshall Film
Protagonist(s): Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Penélope Cruz
Antagonist(s): Ian McShane
Run-time: 2 hours 17 minutes
When Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) catches wind of someone recruiting a crew in his name he makes his way to London where he intends on sorting out this fraud.
It would appear that letting Johnny Depp play on the path of physical comedy which he began during "Benny & Joon" is beneficial to the world of cinematics.
The plot is a bit weak, and the absence of half the main cast of the previous films is clearly noticed yet not mentioned. It would seem to me that a rogue Pirate the likes of Black Beard would deserve the attention of the Pirate King and the Ferryman of souls lost at sea, yet neither is mentioned nor seen.
The addition of a new mythical creature to the PotC universe in the form of mermaids is acceptable.
While not the best film in the series, I recommend seeing it in case an improved sequel is made.
