"Meet Dave" Review
8/10
2008
A Brian Robbins Film
Protagonist(s): Eddie Murphy, Gabrielle Union, Aunstyn Lind Myers, Elizabeth Banks
Antagonist(s): Ed Helms
Run-time: 1 hour 30 minutes
A race of miniature human-like aliens have arrived on Earth in a human-shaped robotic ship modelled after the Captain (Eddie Murphy). Their home planet is running short on power and their goal is to suck the oceans dry of salt water for use as fuel.
This is an interesting family film, although I should point out that the vessel has a TARDIS quality. For those who are uninitiated to the fine world of Doctor Who, that means it appears smaller on the outside than it is on the inside.
The aliens seem to have different size each time they leave the vessel.
It is also amusing to see the nearly emotionless aliens transition into miniature humans.
The effects are average. The plot is unbalanced. The acting talent is just good enough for a family film. The parody of Terminator is amusing.
I only recommend this film for science fiction enthusiasts with families.
Reviewing different things; food, films, music, books, games etc. It is said that those who can't do; teach. Those who can't teach; critique.
