"Kick-Ass" Review

"Kick-Ass" Review

8/10

2010
A Matthew Vaughn Film
Protagonist(s): Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz, Nicolas Cage
Antagonist(s): Mark Strong
Run-time: 1 hour 57 minutes

When a teenager decides to bring superheroes to life by becoming one, he sets in motion a disturbing trend and unexpected consequences.

Based on an ongoing comic book which launched soon before the filming began, this film depicts how quickly trends can take off. It also shows that super powers are not needed to become a hero.

The effects are good. The acting talent is above average even if Mr Cage's performance is wooden and unengaged. The plot is somewhat silly but okay.

I recommend this film for anyone who enjoys action films based on concepts which were laughed at by the creator's peers at the time of creation, but which became popular once projected onto the silver screen.
