"Jack Reacher" Review

"Jack Reacher" Review

9/10

2012
A Christopher McQuarrie Film
Protagonist(s): Tom Cruise, Rosamund Pike, Robert Duvall
Antagonist(s): Werner Herzog, Jai Courtney
Run-time: 2 hours 10 minutes

When a former Military Sniper is arrested for shooting and killing five random people he requests the presence of the retired homicide investigator who had promised to bury him if he got into trouble again.

Based on the book "One Shot" by Lee Child, this investigative film has everything a good action film should have; bare fist fighting, suggestive clothing on a few select women, sniper duel, bumbling drug dealer enforcers who do less harm to their victims than one another, and a good but predictable plot.

The effects are excellent, and it is nice to see a Tom Cruise film where he doesn't spend half the time grinning like a loon or has a blatantly obvious romantic interest in the leading lady. The close combat style is brutal but efficient which leads me to believe Mr Cruise had some lessons from a Military Close Combat Instructor prior to filming.

There is very little in the way of blood. The film stays on a somewhat realistic track, yet looks away when something very messy is taking place, only witnessing the after effects without gore.

I would recommend this for anyone above the age of 15.
