"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" Review

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" Review

8/10

2007
Written By Joanne K Rowling
Published By: Bloomsbury, Arthur A. Levine Books, Scholastic Press, Raincoast Books
Protagonist(s): Harry Potter

This book follows Harry Potter as he and his two best friends quest for the last pieces of Lord Voldemort's soul, meeting opposition, death and pain along the way.

The book is well written, and Harry is less prone to thoughtless idiocy than in the last one. Though in some cases it seems that like many witches and wizards Harry is losing sight of a very basic thing known as logic.

There are emotionally charges scenes throughout the book, as well as revelations about Dumbledore's past, and the long anticipated Final Battle.

I do not agree with the romantic partner Harry finally chooses, for a multitude of reasons, but chiefly because this partner has been more or less described as his mother, and her family as a substitute family, which would make this as close to incest as possible without any legal or biological indication of such.

Still, one cannot change the mind of the author, so this is how it ends, the seventh book in the series. Though there has been talk of extending the universe to center around a different protagonist.
