"Stargate SG-1" Review Season 03, Episode 08, Demons

When SG-1 comes across an medieval Christian village they find a woman bound to a post as sacrifice to Satan to spare the village. Teal'c is marked as a demon because of his mark, and is put through the tests of a witch.

This episode shows that a closed mind will not accept truth no matter how convincing or compelling the argument. It also shows that a corrupt man can manipulate crowds to his means with only words and tricks.

The one new piece of technology introduced in this episode is a remote control device shaped like a ring. What it controls is unclear, but the effect of its use is the rapid gathering of dark clouds and a bolt of lightning striking the ground a certain distance from the user, paralysing and rendering unconscious those caught in its blast radius.

One revelation is that not all Goa'uld pose as Gods. Sokar is one such; posing instead as Satan, feeding off their fear rather than their worship.

Another revelation is that Unas was the name of the first host species, not the first host of the Goa'uld.

The plot is good, the acting talent is good even though at least one actor is a repeater from Season One, the effects are few but well integrated and executed.
