After studying various mythologies from around Earth, Doctor Daniel Jackson concludes that the Norse pantheon were aliens of a different species. Recognizing a symbol from the slide show, Teal'c reveals knowledge of a world which is forbidden to the Goa'uld and Jaffa. Upon arrival, Teal'c is singled out by some kind of device and is transported away along with Colonel O'Neill who had attempted to push him out of the beam of light. While Captain Carter and Doctor Jackson attempt to find out where the other half of their team was taken, Colonel O'Neill and Teal'c must fight to survive.
There are two new species introduced in this episode. The first being the Asgard, though not seen. The second being the Unas, the First One, the initial host to the Goa'uld.
The concept of the host retaining their memory after being taken is confirmed when SG-1 is presented with a former host. And introduces the possibility of removing the Goa'uld without damage to the host or possibility of deception.
It also presents the evolution of the meaning of a known word or phrase. "Gone a viking" once meant going on a plundering raid, but in modern context on the world visited means looking for work.

A change has been made in regards to the Adult status of the Blog, due to the reviews on Alcoholic Beverages, and some for the violent games and films reviewed. Wouldn't want to set a bad example.
