"The Haunted House" Review
7/10
1921
A Buster Keaton and Edward Francis Cline Film
Protagonist(s): Buster Keaton
Antagonist(s): Joe Roberts
Run-time: 21 minutes
When a wily Bank Cashier sets out on a forgery scheme he drags a clumsy Clerk in as the red herring to the police.
While the plot is messy, the comedy alone is worth watching this film.
As it is a silent film, the comedy has to be physical. It is mainly pratfalls and silly leaps in logic, both of which Mr Keaton excelled at and which supposedly inspired Jackie Chan's style of comedy. The most advanced technique displayed is the adding of a blue filter to simulate darkness. The acting talent is below par.
I recommend this film.
