When Veronica's father visits Veridian Dynamics after his company steals a product idea from them, it sparks a competitive product race between the two companies, and makes Ted want to impress his own father.

The moral of the episode is to not ignore common sense while trying to please authority figures. And keep your family close but your enemies closer; should they be both then all the better.
