"Zoom" Review
6/10
2006
A Peter Hewitt Film
Protagonist(s): Tim Allen, Chevy Chase, Courtney Cox, Michael Cassidy, Kate Mara, Spencer Breslin, Ryan Newman
Antagonist(s): Rip Torn
Run-time: 1 hour 33 minutes
When an approaching danger is discovered, the military assembles another Zenith team of superheroes to be trained by Captain Zoom (Tim Allen), a former superhero.
This film is a family film cliche of X-Men like concepts. Filled with pseudo scientific babble which sounds like it's taken out of context and merely thrown in to sound important.
The effects are decent for a relatively low budget family film. The music seems to be deliberately contemporary young. The acting talent is mediocre. The mechanic puppetry is poor. The plot is simple, predictable and filled with holes. The comedy is strained, but mildly amusing.
The build-up towards the approaching danger was somewhat disappointing in its conclusion.
I would only recommend this film for families with children below the age of ten.
Reviewing different things; food, films, music, books, games etc. It is said that those who can't do; teach. Those who can't teach; critique.
