A Jonathan Mostow Film
Protagonist(s): Bruce Willis, Radha Mitchell
Antagonist(s): James Cromwell
Run-time: 1 hour 29 minutes
In a future where surrogate bodies act as avatars for humans who sit at home and remote control them, it comes as a shock when someone manages to kill the controller and surrogate at the same time.
This film shows a very possible future for humanity, one where no one ever leaves the safety of their home and use a remote controlled robotic body to interact with the world around them, eliminating the threat of imminent death or injury from accidents. It is frankly an option I would have enjoyed.
But as humanity has proven time and again, there is always someone who can find a lethal flaw in any technology and take advantage of that flaw to kill others.
While the film is based on a graphic novel, it is not one I have read and so cannot comment or compare the differences between them.
The concept is intriguing, the quality of the film and plot is acceptable, and Bruce Willis does what he does best; get visibly injured and painfully pushing himself through it.
All in all a good film, but not a great one.
