"The Hobbit" Review

9/10
"The Hobbit, or There And Back Again"
Review

1937
Written By: John Ronald Reuel Tolkien
Published By: George Allen & Unwin
Protagonist: Bilbo Baggins

This book follows the hobbit Bilbo Baggins as he is pushed out of his comfortable Hobbit Hole by the Grey Wizard Gandalf. His path is filled with peril, adventure and personal growth.

The unwilling participant of the quest to retake the dwarven kingdom under the Lonely Mountain learns that there is more to life than smoking and eating without any disturbances as he has to fight giant spiders and dragons to stay alive and return to his hole under the hill.

The book was originally published as a children's book, but spawned a whole franchise of books, films and games while inspiring other works of a similar nature.

In all honesty this is one of my favourite books, and it is a far lighter read than the subsequent books.

I highly recommend it.
